Office of Communications and Public Affairs

The Office of Communications and Public Affairs is charged with communicating information about Washington and Lee to both internal and external audiences via the media, official University publications and the Web. It is composed of the following divisions:

News and Media Relations

The News Office serves as the main point of contact between the College and the news media, assisting journalists with inquiries about the University and working to publicize University events, programs, and people in various media outlets and through our Web site. The executive director of communications and public affairs serves as the University spokesperson.

Digital Communications

The Digital Communications Team is responsible for the University's Web site and social media efforts. The staff manages the University's main content management system and its official blogs; runs a social media managers group for faculty, staff and students; produces various multimedia web features; broadcasts major University events live on the web and publishes the University's monthly electronic newsletter, Generally Speaking.

Sports Information

Sports Information provides coverage of the University's athletic teams and student-athletes and produces the popular Sports Weekly webcast. The staff is available to media to help coordinate interviews, photographs and other requests.

WLUR Radio

Washington and Lee's campus radio station, WLUR 91.5 FM Lexington, provides programming by students, faculty, staff and community members and broadcasts a wide range of musical genres, sports, talk shows, news and public affairs.
