W&L Local Community Resources

W&L offers community members access to several resources throughout the university. Below is a list of select resources provided. 

This resource list was created by the Community Engagement/Service Learning Advisory Committee (CESL) at Washington and Lee University. 

Resource	Description
Student Volunteers	Community-based organizations that would like students to support their work can connect with The Office of Community-Based Learning or The Shepherd Program to discuss their needs and aspirations.
Legal Clinics	Through clinics, W&L Law offers different types of legal assistance to meet needs in the region.
ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages)	ESOL is a student organization that offers various services to speakers of other languages. ESOL also offers services to education, health, and housing providers who work with speakers of other languages.
Blue Ridge Mile	The Blue Ridge Mile Clinic, in collaboration with Drive-To-Work, aims to support clients in navigating the steps required to obtain or reinstate a driver's license, learn about and attempt to address the systematic and personal challenges of the processes, and gain an understanding of the district court and DMV practices.
Work Study	Nonprofit community-based organizations can post a job for students through Student Employment at W&L. Please contact Miranda Edwards, Student Employment Manager, for more information.
Audit a Course	Community members have the opportunity to audit a W&L course upon the instructor's permission.
Community Grants	The W&L Community Grants Committee will consider requests for financial assistance from any non-profit organization working for the benefit of the regional community and for the individuals who call it home. Requests for all types of support will be considered provided that any funds granted will have a direct positive impact on members of the Lexington/Rockbridge community.
University Facilities	Community groups are permitted to use certain university facilities for meetings and events. Those who reserve space must follow the policies and procedures for reserving the room.
W&L Museums	The Museums at W&L consist of the University Chapel & Galleries, the Reeves Museum of Ceramics, and Watson Galleries. Works from the ceramics, art, and history collections are also on view in several campus buildings. Free admission and all are welcome.
DeLaney Center	The center provides unique opportunities for students, faculty, alumni, community partners, and higher education colleagues to ponder how W&L's long and complex history intersects with the racial issues that have defined and continue to shape both the U.S. South and the entire country. Community members are encouraged to participate in programming.
W&L Libraries	W&L libraries offer printing and scanning services, basic computer access, and checkout services for community members.
W&L Events	Several W&L events are open to the public. Community members can sign-up for Campus Notices and view daily updates.
W&L WiFi	W&L offers guest network access to their open WiFi network.
