The Rockbridge Report plans continuous Election Night updates on Comcast Xfinity Channel 18
As the Rockbridge region settles in to watch election returns on Tuesday, Nov. 5, viewers can check in on local races, as well as how Buena Vista, Lexington and Rockbridge County voted for president, senator and 6th District representative.
The Rockbridge Report, Washington and Lee University's student-produced live cable TV newscast, will provide continuous updates with an election ticker at the bottom of the screen on Comcast Xfinity Channel 18 all evening long.
Polls close in Virginia at 7 p.m. Tuesday and as soon as the numbers come in, the Rockbridge Report will draw on results from Virginia's State Board of Elections site, as well as manually monitoring local municipalities' websites for updated results.
In addition to the constant election ticker all evening long, Rockbridge Report anchors and reporters will provide 15-minute live news updates on Channel 18 at 7, 8:30 and 9:45 p.m. that night. Reporters will have live coverage of the local Democratic and Republican parties' election watch parties, as well as from CNN News Source and the Associated Press.
"Viewers can watch their favorite network and Roanoke station's coverage, then hop over to Channel 18 to see Rockbridge coverage, then flip back to their other station of choice," said Kevin Finch, Associate Professor of Journalism and supervisor of the Rockbridge Report.
Each 15-minute newscast will be uploaded to the Rockbridge Report's website, www.rockbridgereport.wlu.edu, so viewers can watch those newscasts later in the evening. The website will also have updated stories on statewide races in Virginia and the races in Lexington, Buena Vista and in Goshen and Glasgow.
