Lynn Uzzell is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Politics at Washington and Lee University. She is currently working on two book manuscripts relating to the records of the Constitutional Convention. She received her B.A. in speech communications at Black Hills State University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in politics at the University of Dallas. She has also taught at Baylor University, the University of Virginia, and the University of Richmond. For four years she was the scholar in residence at the Center for the Constitution at James Madison’s Montpelier and has been heavily involved in continuing education for civics teachers. She specializes in the Constitutional Convention of 1787 and the political thought of James Madison. In addition, she has research and teaching experience in political philosophy, rhetoric, and slavery and the Constitution.
