Curriculum Vitae
Professor Hoover joined the W&L faculty in July 2000. He has a technical background and worked as a civilian for the U.S. Navy on electronics research and development programs. He also founded and managed a software company devoted to customized database software.
After his graduate studies at Indiana University, he taught at the University of Wyoming. He was recognized by the Teaching Excellence Committee of the Indiana University School of Business in 1996. He also received the Schuyler F. Otteson Teaching Excellence Award that year. In 1998, he received the Outstanding Junior Faculty Teaching Award from the University of Wyoming College of Business. At W&L, he was the inaugural holder of the Larry and Sally Lawrence Term Associate Professorship.
Professor Hoover teaches Corporate Finance and Real Estate at W&L. His current research interests are focused primarily on real estate case studies and issues related to corporate social responsibility. He has published two books (Stock Valuation: An Essential Guide to Wall Street's Most Popular Valuation Models and How to Get a Job on Wall Street), both of which were written to provide a knowledge base for anyone interested in working in the investments world.
