Curriculum Vitae

Elizabeth Goad Oliver, Associate Dean of the Williams School and Lewis Whitaker Adams Professor in Commerce, joined the W&L faculty in July 1991. She teaches classes in accounting research and corporate social responsibility, and she runs the Washington and Lee London Internship Program. As one of two faculty advisors to Washington and Lee Student Consulting, she helps oversee the group’s pro bono work with small businesses and not-for-profit organizations. She served as Associate Dean of the Williams School before becoming Accounting Department Head.

Her current research focuses on positive psychology and performance evaluation as well as corporate social responsibility and sustainability. Formerly, she examined the influence of culture on pension and welfare benefits. She is a member of the editorial board of Business Horizons.

Active in the American Accounting Association, she currently serves as the Vice President for Leadership Development for the Accounting Program Leadership Group (APLG). Along with a colleague from the Federation of Schools of Accountancy (FSA), she directed programming for the annual APLG/FSA Joint Seminar in 2016 and 2017. She has also served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section, has been a member of numerous AAA committees, including the Finance Committee, and has served as chair of the Membership Advisory Committee. She also spent a year with Arthur Andersen's Northern Virginia office as a Faculty Fellow.
