Curriculum Vitae

Lloyd Tanlu joined the Williams School in 2018. He received his doctorate in accounting from Harvard Business School, an MS in international economics and finance from Brandeis University, and undergraduate degrees in management and psychology at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. Before becoming a full-time academic, he was the Assistant Director for Budget and Planning at Brandeis University and a Finance and Accounting Manager at Procter and Gamble Philippines.

Lloyd grew up in Manila, and has lived in cities on opposite coasts of the US (Boston and Seattle). He loves trying out new restaurants, and is especially fond of steak.

Research

Lloyd examines various issues in managerial accounting, including budgeting and forecasting, management control systems, incentives, corporate governance, and performance measurement and evaluation. His work has been published in various academic journals including The Accounting Review, the Academy of Management Review, and the Review of Accounting Studies.

Teaching

At W&L, Lloyd teaches Cost Accounting, Intermediate Financial Reporting, and Valuation Issues in Accounting. In the past, he has taught accounting courses (primarily managerial and cost accounting) across the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels at various universities, including Northeastern, the University of Washington, the University of Michigan, and Harvard University.
