University Housing Dates

Important Dates for Residential Students

2021-2022 Academic Year

The term "University Housing" refers to ALL University-owned housing facilities including Gaines, Graham-Lees, Woods Creek Apartments, the Village, theme and fraternity/sorority houses.

Fall Term 2021

  • November 22 - 26, 2021 - Thanksgiving Break
    • No classes, University housing remains open.
      • Students leaving for break are asked to unplug appliances (except fridges), turn off lights, take out trash, and secure residence (windows/doors).
  • Sunday, December 19, 2021 - Winter Break
    • University housing closes at 5:00 p.m. for all students except for students who were granted extended stay.
      • Students returning winter term may leave items in room over winter break (take essentials home). Please carefully follow winter break closing instructions.
      • Students not returning (abroad, leave etc.) to campus during winter term (regardless of spring term plans) must completely vacate housing, clean, remove all items, and return key to Public Safety by 5:00 p.m. on 12/19 to avoid fees. Items left behind will be considered abandoned property and are subject to donation or disposal. Students not returning will be able to notify Residence Life of their intent beginning November 1, 2021 through eRezLife with a deadline of November 30th, 2021.
      • Students may request an extended stay for extenuating circumstances only by filling out the "Extended Stay Request" form via go.wlu.edu/erezlife. The deadline for extended stay requests is Monday, December 13, 2021.

Winter & Spring Terms 2022

Students participating in formal recruitment, winter athletes, certain leadership positions, and students with extenuating circumstances may be approved for early arrival. Please check with your coach and/or organizational advisors. All other early arrival requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis for extenuating circumstances onlyIf you would like to request early arrival based on extenuating circumstanceplease complete the “Early Arrival Request” via go.wlu.edu/erezlife. The deadline for early arrival requests is Monday, December 20, 2021.

  • Wednesday, January 5, 2022
    • University housing reopens only for current (upper-division) Panhellenic sorority members, all students participating in Panhellenic formal recruitment, peer counselors, residence life staff, and students who were approved for extenuating circumstances. Campus meal plans are not activated and dining options are limited.
  • Saturday, January 8, 2022
  • February 21-27, 2022 – Washington Break
    • No classes, University housing remains open.
      • Students leaving for break are asked to unplug appliances (except fridges), turn off lights, take out trash, and secure residence (windows/doors).
  • April 16-24, 2022 – Spring Break
    • No classes, University housing remains open.
      • Students returning spring term may leave items in room over spring break (take essentials home). Students leaving for break are asked to unplug appliances (except fridges), turn off lights, take out trash, and secure residence (windows/doors).
      • Students not returning spring term (abroad, leave, option etc.) must completely vacate housing, clean, remove all items, and return key to Public Safety by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 17 to avoid fees. Items left behind will be considered abandoned property and are subject to donation or disposal. Students are NOT permitted to store belongings in campus housing.
  • Sunday, May 22, 2022
    • University housing closes at 5:00 p.m. for all students except graduating seniors and students who were granted extended stay.
      • Student must completely vacate housing, clean, remove all items, and return key to Public Safety by 5:00 p.m. to avoid fees. Items left behind will be considered abandoned property and are subject to donation or disposal.
      • Students may request an extended stay for extenuating circumstances only by filling out the “Extended Stay Request” form via go.wlu.edu/erezlife. The deadline for extended stay requests is Monday, May 16, 2022.
  • Saturday, May 28, 2022 – University Housing Closed to All Students
    • Graduating seniors and extended stays (unless otherwise approved) must completely vacate housing, clean, remove all items, and return key to Public Safety by 5:00 p.m to avoid fees. Items left behind will be considered abandoned property and are subject to donation or disposal. Students are NOT permitted to store belongings in campus housing. 

Summer Housing 2022

  • Monday, June 6, 2022 – Summer Housing Opens
  • Sunday, July 31, 2022 – Summer Housing Closed
