Important Dates for Residential Students

2022-23 Academic Year

The term "University Housing" refers to ALL University-owned housing facilities including Gaines, Graham-Lees, Woods Creek Apartments, the Village, theme and fraternity/sorority houses.

Summer Housing 2022

  • Sunday, July 31, 2022 – Summer Housing Closed

Fall Housing 2022

Please review all housing dates below. Students participating in fall athletics, certain leadership positions, and students with extenuating circumstances may be approved for early arrival. Please check with your coach and/or organizational advisors. All other early arrival requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis for extenuating circumstances only. If you would like to request early arrival based on extenuating circumstance, please complete the "Early Arrival Request" via go.wlu.edu/erezlife. The deadline for early arrival requests is Monday, August 1, 2022. Requests after this date may not be considered.

  • Monday, August 15, 2022 - University housing freeze in effect.
    • Not accepting room change requests. Students should contact their RA or CA if they have questions.
  • Sunday, August 28, 2022 - University housing opens only for first-year students (class of '26) participating in Leading Edge.
    • Leading Edge participants will receive specific instructions regarding scheduled time of arrival, respective trips, meals, and other pertinent move-in details at a later date. For questions about Leading Edge, please contact Kim Hodge.
  • Saturday, September 3, 2022 - University housing reopens for all undergraduate students.
  • Monday, September 26, 2022 - University housing freeze ends.
    • Students may request room changes. Contact RA or CA with questions. Room change requests are reviewed and approved on a case by case basis. Room changes are contingent upon housing availability.
  • Thursday - Friday, October 13-14, 2022 - Reading days.
    • University housing remains open. Students who are traveling away from campus are encouraged to conserve energy by unplugging appliances (except fridges), adjusting thermostats, turning off lights, and closing all windows. Please take out trash, remove perishables, and secure windows/doors.
  • Monday - Friday, November 21-25, 2022 - Thanksgiving break.
    • University housing remains open. Students who are traveling away from campus are encouraged to conserve energy by unplugging appliances (except fridges), adjusting thermostats, turning off lights, and closing all windows. Please take out trash, remove perishables, and secure windows/doors.
  • Sunday, December 18, 2022 - University housing closes for winter break.
    • Students returning winter term 2023 may leave items in room over winter break (take essentials home). Students leaving for break are asked to unplug appliances (except fridges), turn off lights, take out trash, and secure residence (windows/doors).
    • Students not returning winter term (abroad, leave, etc.) must completely vacate housing, clean, remove all items, and return key to Public Safety by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2022 to avoid fees. Items left behind will be considered abandoned property and are subject to donation or disposal. Students are NOT permitted to store belongings in campus housing. Students may request an extended stay via eRezLife by no later than December 9, 2022. Extended stay requests are reviewed and approved on a case by case basis for extenuating circumstances only.
