The John Kyle Spencer Endowment Director for Environmental Studies Robert Humston

The John Kyle Spencer Endowed Director for Environmental Studies was established in 2018 in memory of John Kyle Spencer, a 2013 graduate of Washington and Lee University, through a gift from his mother, Kathelen V. Amos and Daniel P. Amos. The Amos' gift created a tenure-track faculty position in the Environmental Studies Program and established the first endowed directorship for an existing interdisciplinary program at W&L. The inaugural holder of the directorship is Robert Humston, Professor of Biology and chair, who mentored Spencer during his time as a student.
