Jennifer Ruth Strawbridge, B.A., Class of 2001 Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award Biography

Jennifer came to W&L from Houston TX. She completed her degree summa cum laude, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and with honors in both her majors, religion and physics. She had also been inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma and was a 2000 Rhodes Scholarship Finalist for the State of Texas. Jennifer was a member of the women's varsity lacrosse and tennis teams, also serving as a Student-Athlete Mentor and being recognized with an All-Conference academic award by the ODAC.

As co-chair of the Elementary School Enrichment program in Students for Excellence in Education, she tutored and taught enrichment activities in the local schools. Jennifer spent two summers as a camp counselor with impoverished children for Christian Appalachian Project in McKee, KY, and Americorps member, and served as volunteer and leader of the Shepherd Poverty Program.

Her leadership at R.E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church included serving as Sunday School teacher, a leader of the Student Vestry, a College Work Committee member, and an Aspirant in the Episcopal Discernment process as a candidate for ordination. With Generals' Christian Fellowship, Jennifer was a member of the Leadership Core Group and Chair of Campus and Community Outreach. She will attend seminary.
