Conley Karlovic Hurst, B.A., Class of 2017 Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award Biography
Conley is from Little Rock, Arkansas. He is an American history major with minors in music and creative writing. A member of both Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa, Conley has won departmental honors and awards in history, English and music. A two-time ODAC Men’s Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year, he was co-captain of the W&L Men’s Golf Team for the past two seasons. Conley served as Arkansas State Chair for the 2016 W&L Mock Convention and as co-editor of opinions for The Ring-Tum Phi newspaper from 2016 to 2017. He has studied classical piano for almost 16 years and has studied for the past four years at Washington and Lee under Professors Timothy Gaylard and Shuko Watanabe. Conley performed his senior piano recital last evening. After spending a year in the United Kingdom pursuing a master’s degree in history, Conley plans to return to the United States to attend law school and pursue a career in law or public service.
