I have always seen myself as a natural caretaker and listener with friends. I was drawn to the field of counseling after volunteering at a 4-H and Muscular Dystrophy camp and a battered woman’s shelter as an undergraduate. I am energized when others learn and grow. I see myself as a facilitator, educator, and motivator of change, integrating individual strengths along with new skills and insights that we acquire together. A student’s choice to begin counseling is a brave step towards making positive changes, big or small. I believe in building a safe and trusting relationship so that students can knock down the obstacles that keep them from the life they want and deserve.
