My approach to counseling is collaborative and based on building rapport, listening actively, and encouraging students to get curious about their values, identities, and actions. I often think about where and how students get “stuck” in life, what roles can be inadvertently placed upon them (positive and negative!), and how students can engage in their undergraduate and law school experiences with less self-judgement, rigidity, and perfectionism. Recognizing someone’s existing skills and practicing new ways of coping and changing is a significant part of the work I do with students.
