Diversified Capital Group
About Us
Diversified Capital Group is the first URM-owned, student-run investment fund operating at Washington and Lee University. We seek to close the access gap for talented, minority students interested in learning to invest. After an eight-week education program focused on top-down fundamental analysis, we aim to apply these learned skill sets through active investment management.
Our Story
Diversified Capital Group was founded due to the lack of diverse representation amongst financial pre-professional societies on campus. The founders felt this was because students from ethnic minority backgrounds had disproportionally less access to financial education and exposure to careers in the financial services industry.
After putting together a strong executive team, they founded Diversified Capital Group (DCG) to bridge the financial education gap on campus by ensuring every student has access to financial training and the professional development tools necessary for a career in the financial services industry.
Mission
To close the access gap for talented, minority students interested in learning to invest.
Our three pillars are:
Investing Education Program
A rigorous, eight-week introductory investing education program covering qualitative analysis, investor behavior, accounting, comparable company analysis, and DCF valuation.
Career and Professional Development
Regardless of the student's career aspirations, we ensure our students are prepared for the professional world through providing resumé workshops, LinkedIn headshots, and interview preparation resources.
Active Investment Management
After an eight-week education program focused on top-down fundamental analysis, we aim to apply these learned skillsets through an actively managed fund that follows a growth rather than a value investing framework.
