Curriculum Vitae
Bright joined the Williams School faculty in the fall of 2023. With a PhD in information systems, his primary teaching interests revolve around data retrieval, analytics, and visualization, with a particular emphasis on storytelling and decision-making.
Bright's research primarily concentrates on two areas. First, he investigates platform behavior in order to understand digital fundraising in diverse contexts such as crowdfunding and social media. Utilizing data and text analytics tools, he aims to understand the values and motivations that propel digital fundraising and entrepreneurial activities in resource-constrained and developing regions. Second, in the field of information privacy and cybersecurity, Bright explores the impact of behavioral interventions to reduce privacy fatalism and enhance employee ISP compliance. His research involves looking at how different interventions - using experiments and scenario designs - can change how people think about their personal data and also, help build a stronger information security culture within organizations.
As an African-born scholar from Ghana, Bright is particularly interested in how information systems platforms can be harnessed to promote resource mobilization, digital entrepreneurship, and social welfare. Bright is a recipient of the inaugural Kaufman-AIS Entrepreneurial Innovation Fellowship for his work in digital entrepreneurship.
