Nathan Bowden is an attorney, educator, and consultant whose primary research interests involve how we regulate financial institutions and other businesses that offer products and services to consumers. Nathan teaches, as an adjunct professor, at Washington and Lee University School of Law, and he maintains a private law and consulting practice primarily focused on helping banks, credit unions, and other regulated financial institutions comply with the laws and regulations that affect their daily operations. Before starting his own practice in 2015, Nathan served for nearly 5 years as General Counsel and Director of Compliance & Regulatory Affairs at the Virginia Credit Union League, a state-level trade association representing Virginia's credit unions. Before that, he served for 6 years as a litigator at an Atlanta-area law firm, taking on cases of interest to the banking and financial-services industries. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section and participates in its committees on banking, credit unions, and consumer financial services. Nathan earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Kennesaw State University in 1992 and his law degree at Emory University School of Law in 1997. He resides in Lexington, Virginia, with his wife and two children.
