Meet the Interns

Flo Worthington

Flora Worthington '23, Materials Management Intern

Flora is an economics and history double major, with an interest in sustainable waste management, particularly electronic waste. She has been active in campus sustainability efforts throughout her time on campus, including as a trip leader for sustainability pre-orientation programs and as the driving force behind the 2021 relaunch of W&L's electronic waste recycling program, a program she continues to support and improve through her current internship.

Darnell Pelzer

Darnell Pelzer '25, Data Management Intern

I am Darnell Pelzer Jr, coming from Norfolk, Virginia but born in New York. My fascination with sustainability off and on campus is derived from noticing how much one small effort extended across millions can benefit the planet. If people can nourish the land they live on, that's one step toward a healthier world.

Mohammed Mourtaja

Mohammed Mourtaja '25, Sustainability Intern

My name is Mohammed. I am an international student from Palestine majoring in economics. In the second semester of my first year, I took a course on Environmental Economics. The course made it clear to me that climate change is a serious issue, and the only way forward is through sustainable practices and policies. As an intern in the sustainability office, I hope to improve and implement initiatives to help meet W&L's sustainability goals.

Augusta Weaver

Augusta Weaver '26, Sustainability Intern

Augusta Weaver is a first year student interested in Environmental Studies at W&L. She is involved in the Student Environmental Action League, the Native American Student Organization, Queer Liberation Alliance, and GAG.
