Con la Casa Hispánica, la Universidad de Washington and Lee pretende establecer un ambiente social y académico en el que se promueva la comunicación en español y el mayor conocimiento de las distintas culturas hispanas. Como ha dicho uno de los futuros habitantes de la casa: "debe ser un ambiente abierto y alegre, donde los estudiantes se sientan atraídos por la fuerza y sabor característicos del entorno latino". Otra futura habitante de la Casa ha descrito el propósito de la casa como la de formar "una familia entre hispanos y todos aquellos que deseen conocer y formar parte de esa cultura". Los residentes de la Casa tendrán la oportunidad de compartir cenas y participar en actividades enfocadas al mundo hispano. Los habitantes de la casa tendrán la responsabilidad de participar en la organización de las actividades de la casa y de respetar la comunicación en español en las áreas comunes. Además de otras responsabilidades, la Asistente de Comunidad (CA) se compromete a asegurar el buen funcionamiento de la Casa como lugar de amena convivencia. En cooperación con las ayudantes de lenguas de Lenguas Románicas, el Asistente de Comunidad también ayuda a organizar e implementar actividades académicas y sociales para los residentes y sus invitados. El objetivo de la Casa es crear un verdadero hogar donde los residentes tengan la oportunidad de aprender español y conocer en profundidad otra cultura. La Casa Hispánica beneficiará a la Universidad al extender su misión internacional y ampliar la comprensión entre culturas globales.

[Washington and Lee University, in its support of the Casa Hispánica, seeks to establish a social and academic environment in which students promote communication in Spanish and enhanced knowledge of the numerous and different Hispanic cultures. One student has stated that the Casa "should be an open and happy environment in which students feel attracted to the strength and flavor characteristic of Latino surroundings." Another student has described the house's mission to be the formation of "a family among Hispanics and all those who wish to know and be a part of Hispanic cultures."  Casa residents will be able to share meals and participate in activities that reflect and explore the Hispanic world. Residents will also take responsibility for activity planning and for ensuring adherence to the Spanish-only rule in common areas. In addition to other duties, the Community Assistant (CA) will make every effort to facilitate the smooth functioning of the Casa as a communal living arrangement. In conjunction with the Romance Languages FLTAs, the CA may help design and implement academic and social activities for residents and their guests. The Casa will provide students with an environment, a true "home," in which they will learn and share a love and a curiosity for Hispanic language and culture. The Casa will benefit Washington and Lee University as it seeks to extend its own international mission in that it will exert positive forces both from and towards the house to broaden comprehension among global cultures.]
