For Wednesday, September 3 September 2, 2025

FYs,

For the few who may need to switch something about your course schedule, please remember drop/add opens at 9am and there is a Registration Help Desk from 9-10am in Elrod Commons 206. Academic deans and the registrar's office will be available to assist you.

If you are eligible for work study, then you must attend the meeting at 10am in Elrod Commons, Stackhouse Theater to complete paperwork that is required before you begin working and learn how to get paid.

The FY Read Discussion at 1pm will be based on the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, which you received this summer. Please bring your book to your discussion.  Please bring your book to your discussion. This will be a seminar setting with approximately 12 students in a room with one of the 40 faculty who volunteered to facilitate. Please check your email for discussion location and facilitator. You may want to find the room earlier in the day to make sure you know where you are going or at least locate it on the campus map and head there a bit early to make sure you are on time. Immediately following the discussion will be an ice cream social near Huntley Hall (at the end of Stemmons Plaza) where you can experience Sweet Things ice cream, toppings, and continued conversation.

Please arrive by 5:10pm for Convocation (frequently a time of picture taking with new friends) and make sure you are seated by 5:15pm so the faculty procession can begin on time.

Honor System Orientation is in University Chapel at 8pm. Check with your RA beforehand if you are not sure where your discussion group is meeting after University Chapel.

Then relax with s'mores around a campfire at Washington St. Park (between Gaines and Graham-Lees) from 9-11pm.

Sincerely,

FYE Team - Dean Rodocker, Dean Graves and Colleen Drake
