"Where is the Synagogue? The Jewish History at Wahington and Lee"
In 2010 the university finished construction on the Hillel House, a building marking the school's commitment to its Jewish student population. It was in a way the acknowledgment of the Jewish history of the university which included formally two Jewish fraternities existing on campus, relatively high percentages of Jewish enrollment, and the impact on the history of reform to the university. The move was also the culmination of an administrative-wide effort to revitalize the diminished Jewish population at W&L. The presentation will look at some of the highlights of the impact Jewish students had at Washington and Lee and where Jewish students left their mark over time.
