Opportunities for Students
The Department of Romance Languages administers and supervises its own programs abroad during the spring term, most recently in Spain and Argentina. Additionally, majors are strongly encouraged to study abroad for the full academic year or, when this is not possible, during fall or winter term. Romance Languages also encourages summer study abroad, including intensive language study through Estudio Sampere in Madrid.
Our native Teaching Assistants and faculty in Romance Languages provide numerous opportunities for practicing the languages you love to speak.
The mission of the English for Speakers of Other Languages Program is to facilitate communication within the increasingly diverse population in Rockbridge County.
Washington and Lee's only modern language residence.
