Curriculum Vitae
As Director of the Shepherd Program, Professor Pickett works with affiliated faculty, staff, community partners, and alumni to prepare students with different majors, career paths, backgrounds, and political perspectives to understand and address the causes and consequences of poverty and inequality in ways that respect the dignity of every person. Professor Pickett also teaches a variety of courses in Poverty and Human Capability Studies: the interdisciplinary introduction (POV 101), the advanced research capstone for minors (POV 423), upper-level ethics courses, including one offered at the regional state prison (POV 296). Professor Pickett received his BA in Religious Studies and Classics from Millsaps College and his PhD in Religious Studies from The University of Virginia.
