Framework for Assessing Teaching Effectiveness (FATE)

The Framework for Assessing Teaching Effectiveness (FATE) Committee is charged with designing a holistic framework for formative and summative assessment of teaching effectiveness, within which SPoTs will serve only a minor role. This committee's work should reflect best practices identified in the scholarly literature and, ideally, incorporate input from the Harte Center director. The committee's work should begin in the spring of 2024 and be completed during the 2024-25 academic year so that the holistic framework can be implemented beginning in 2025-26.

This ad hoc committee should be comprised of 7 elected faculty members:

  • 3 from the College (with one from Physical Education)
  • 2 from the Williams School
  • 2 elected at large
