Faculty Handbook Revision Committee
The Faculty Handbook Revision Committee is an ad hoc committee that was formed in 2024 and charged with the following:
- Begin the Faculty Handbook revision process by focusing on the Statement on Academic Freedom, the Tenure and Promotion process for undergraduate and law faculty, and the definition of faculty.
- Send each recommendation separately to FEC for review. For matters that pertain exclusively to the law faculty, recommendations will first go to the law faculty before being sent to FEC. FEC will bring all proposals to the university faculty for consideration.
- Determine and prioritize additional areas of Faculty Handbook revision. In consultation with the ex-officio HR representative, identify which areas fall under faculty revision purview. Additional matters deemed in the faculty purview will be revised and sent to FEC as a bundle to avoid unintended conflicts. Areas the committee identifies in need of revision that are not in the faculty purview will be revised by appropriate university personnel and shared with the committee before sending revisions to FEC as information for the university faculty.
