Course Description

This course is intended to provide students with the opportunity to explore the underwater world of SCUBA Diving. This will include classroom, pool session and open water components. Your instructor will teach you about dive equipment, the science of diving, responsible diving practices and the environment. You will also learn many skills in the water with practice time for your safety and comfort; and complete your training with a minimum of five open water dives.  Successful completion will result in a open water diver lifetime certification from NAUI  http://naui.com/  Diving instruction will be provided by Roanoke Island Outfitters of Manteo, North Carolina.

Course Requirements

Students will be required to attend all classroom, pool and diving sessions of this class. The ability to pass the swimming test, written examination and necessary skills in five open water dives is required. Students will be screened for relative and absolute contradictions to SCUBA Diving before being allowed in the class.  Contradictions include but are not limited to: behavioral health, otolaryngological, neurological, cardiovascular, pulmonary and metabolic conditions.
