PE 174: Backpacking

Course Description

This course is intended to provide students with the opportunity to develop fundamental knowledge and skills for backpacking in wilderness areas. Students will gain knowledge and skills necessary for safe, low-impact camping.

Course Requirements

Students will be required to attend all class sessions as well as overnight trip. Students must also show good judgement, exercise low-impact camping techniques, and proficiency at basic outdoor skills. Please dress in layers and according to weather patterns, as the class will be taught outside. The only equipment required is a small backpack, water bottle and rain jacket. Grading will be dependent on class attendance.
