Elicia Cowins

Elicia Cowins joined the Williams School in 2015. She is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Affiliate Faculty of Africana Studies. She received her B.S. in Accounting from Florida A&M University, her MAcc. from Florida State University and her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Prior to pursuing her doctorate, she worked in financial reporting for various companies in publishing, media and software development. Currently, she teaches various courses in financial accounting. Her research centers solvency regulation, portfolio allocation and standard setting issues related to accounting for financial instruments. Originally from Bellevue, Nebraska, Elicia now resides in Lexington with her husband Jamel and their daughter Ameena.
