First-Generation Low-Income Partnership (FLIP) FLIP @ W&L
The First-Generation Low-Income Partnership - or FLIP - is dedicated to creating a supportive community for First Gen and/or Low-Income (FGLI) students. We will advocate for FGLI issues on campus as well as organize resources, events, and meetup groups.
While a relatively new group, here are here are four ways to get involved with FLIP:
1. Sign up to participate in our monthly Mentorship Meet-Up Groups
This Google Doc contains all the information you need to join us.
2. Support our Lending Library
We have collected a full bookcase of textbooks and other relevant books from last year, but are looking for more! Please consider donating a book, such as one required for your class, and encouraging your students to do the same after the semester ends.
3. Help out with Money Matters Week.
We are planning a Money Matters Week, which will focus on two primary needs: (1) lectures that relate to the theme, (2) FGLI faculty and staff sharing their experiences with current students, on a public panel
4. Like our Facebook page and help us spread the word!
We will be tabling at the Student Activities Fair, but for now we are relying primarily on word of mouth. Please tell your advisees and students as appropriate, as well as your peers who might be interested in supporting FLIP's efforts.
