Selected students will be matched with a faculty researcher, from over 70 in the biological and physical sciences, who will mentor the student through an independent research project. Students will participate in weekly lunch seminars, which will include faculty research presentations, ethics discussions and professional development activities such as panel discussion with students and postdoctoral fellows from the Greater Boston area concerning careers in medicine, biotechnology and research. Program includes housing costs, a meal allowance and a stipend of $5250.

During the first two weeks, interns divide their time between group training activities and their home laboratories. The group training activities include research seminar presentations, hands-on training in field and laboratory techniques, a trip behind the scenes at the Indianapolis Zoo, and a workshop on research ethics. For the remainder of the summer, students conduct individual research projects under the guidance of their mentors and prepare final presentations of the results. Program includes housing, meals, travel expenses and a stipend of about $4500.

Underrepresented minority students in the basic sciences (including Neuroscience) will be provided with one-on-one training by LSUHSC faculty in designing and conducting experiments, as well as presenting their results. In addition to research, interns will participate in seminars and interactive workshops on topics such as resume writing for graduate school applications and responsible conduct in research.

10-week summer program during which students actively participate in research projects in the laboratories of New York University science faculty. We match students to laboratories primarily on the basis of their background preparation and areas of interest. The students are involved in all phases of the research process from experimental design to data analysis and communication of results.

Each participant will work on a research project under the guidance of an experienced Ohio Wesleyan University faculty member. All projects will focus on one or more aspects of scientific computation: numerical, symbolic, and data visualization. - The Scripps Research Institute - La Jolla, California
The California REU is a 10-week program that probes the structure and function of macromolecules.
Each of the major program components - (1) curriculum and professional development workshops and (2) research experiences - will be made up of several elements that work together and provide a stepwise, scaffolding approach to improving interns' critical thinking skills, scientific preparation skills, knowledge base, and research expertise. The heart of the program will be the hands-on research experience in one of our 150 state-of-the-art laboratories where interns learn the scientific process by participating in research side-by-side with our world-renowned faculty and scientists. - The Scripps Research Institute - Jupiter, Florida
The Summer Research Fellowship (SURF) at Scripps Florida is a 10-week summer research program which focuses on integrating cutting-edge bioscience research with the development of chemical tools to probe these biological questions. Furthermore, our medicinal chemistry programs are highly translational. Students can join any of our six departments, Cancer Biology, Chemistry, Infectious Diseases, Metabolism and Aging, Molecular Therapeutics, and Neuroscience, where they will work at the interface of chemistry and biology. Students are provided with a stipend and housing.

A nine-week research experience providing an opportunity to assist graduate students with important research led by leading faculty with a wide range of expertise spanning four different colleges. This REU will have a computational component, and two undergraduates could be assigned to a research team.
Students who participate will receive:
- One hour credit for a course in "Computational Neuroscience" (meets one hour per week)
- Stipend of $4,500
- Travel, tuition, air-conditioned campus dorm housing, and a full meal plan

The Vanderbilt/NIMH Conte Center for Neuroscience Research studies the Enduring Effects of Early-Life Serotonin Signaling. Serotonin (5-HT) influences a wide variety of behaviors including anxiety, mood, appetite, sleep and aggression. Changes in the serotonin system, such as disruption of 5-HT synthesis or genetic variation in the serotonin transporter or its receptors, have been linked to anxiety, depression, suicide, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder and autism. The Conte Center is examining changes in embryonic and post-natal serotonin signaling and how those changes impact risks for and development of neuropsychiatric disorders later in life.
Students participating in the SURE program will have the opportunity to spend their summer in a Conte Center affiliated lab performing neuroscience research. The participating students will receive a stipend and on-campus housing.
