Current W&L Students What you need to know about the Cognitive Neuroscience Lab
Welcome to the CNL:
Information for Labsters: Guidelines and important tips for working in the lab
Ways to get involved in the lab:
- Directed Individual Research: During the academic year, each student conducts primary research in partnership with a neuroscience faculty member (1, 2, 3, or 4). Students must obtain permission from a faculty member prior to course registration.
- Summer Research Scholars: Enables students to spend the summer doing research full-time with the faculty scientists of their choice.
- Levy Neuroscience Endowment: A grant specifically geared to fund neuroscience research collaboration between a student and faculty member during the summer.
Additional Research Opportunities:
- W&L Student Research: A compilation of other grants and fellowships offered by the university
- Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN): an international organization that is focused on neuroscience education and research at the undergraduate level
- Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU): A program which supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation – Students must apply directly to REU sites in their area of interest
- Society for Neuroscience (SFN): An organization that provides opportunities, conferences, and awards in the field of neuroscience
- Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition (CNBC): A joint project of Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, which provides research opportunities for undergraduates
- Stanford Summer Research Program/Amgen Scholars Program (SSRP): A program which offers undergraduates wishing to prepare for and enter Ph.D. programs in the sciences an opportunity to conduct research at the Stanford School of Medicine
- Duke Mechanisms of Behavior: 10-week summer research internship that allows undergraduates to conduct supervised independent research in the field of behavioral neuroscience at Duke University directed by Dr. Warren Meck.
- Internship Opportunities in Neuroscience: A compilation of internships and research opportunities for undergraduates at myriad universities
