Synthia Smout Ensemble Logistics Coordinator
Synthia Johnson Smout loved working as W&L’s University-Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra Manager from 2005-2015. She has enjoyed branching out and working with more of the professors as the Ensemble Logistics Coordinator after the USSO was changed to The University Orchestra in 2015.
Synthia is one of the organists at her church. Previously, she spent many years teaching beginning piano lessons, music classes at two local preschool/daycare centers, and classes as a substitute teacher in Lexington City Schools. Volunteer positions include PTA President, Band Booster President, and a variety of church leadership positions.
Originally from Utah and Idaho, Synthia received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University. Along with her husband Kary and three sons Shawn, Ryan, and Brad, Synthia came to Lexington in 1991 when Kary took a position at W&L as English Professor and Writing Program Coordinator.
