Civil rights attorney Juan Cartagena will give a talk entitled"Latinos & Civil Rights: Lifting the Cloak of Invisibility," in which he will explicate the multitude of ways in which our criminal justice system is structured to deny justice to Latinos. Cartagena has represented Latino and African American communities in areas of litigation such as voting rights, access to public education, discrimination in the workplace, and language rights. He is the president and general counsel of LatinoJustice PRLDEF, a New York-based civil rights organization.
