The Rockbridge County High School Jazz Band joins the University Jazz Ensemble for a spring concert celebrating the continuing growth of jazz across generations of musicians in the region. What began as a collaboration between neighboring ensembles has quickly developed into one of the season's most spirited and eagerly anticipated concerts.

Under the direction of Miranda Fitzgerald, the Rockbridge County High School Jazz Band has become known for its energy, commitment and rapidly growing ensemble sound. The University Jazz Ensemble, directed by Terry Vosbein, brings nearly 30 years of performance history, touring and ambitious programming to the stage.

Together, the ensembles create an evening that is both polished and joyful, filled with strong section playing, featured soloists and the unmistakable excitement that comes from large jazz ensembles performing live.

The concert concludes with both groups together onstage for a combined performance, filling the hall with the sound and momentum of young musicians learning, listening and pushing the music forward together.

Performance will be streamed. go.wlu.edu/livestream.
