Senior Recital: Reagan Wombles, soprano

Join Reagan Wombles, soprano, a music and biology double major from Lexington, Kentucky, as she offers a program inspired by themes of astronomy and mythology.

The recital traces a journey from exalted spiritual joy through night, nature and cosmic longing, into human romantic devotion and finally to lighthearted social satire and operetta humor. The program is unified by the human desire to connect with the divine, the natural universe, and society.

Opening in radiant celebration with Mozart's famous solo motet and cantata, "Exsultate Jubilate"—a work of exuberant joy and brilliance—the program evokes vivid cosmic and nocturnal atmospheres through German lieder by Franz Schubert, Hugo Wolf and Richard Strauss, before concluding in playful theatricality with delightful selections from the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.

During her time at Washington and Lee University, Wombles has studied voice under Dr. Gregory Parker, who also serves as her senior thesis advisor.

Performance will be streamed. go.wlu.edu/livestream.
