Todd Hunter: Master Class Series A Musical Theater Workshop
Todd Hunter will visit the W&L campus on Sunday, September 27, 2015 to conduct a Musical Theater Workshop from 2-5 p.m. in the Johnson Theatre, located in the Lenfest Center. Contact Rob Mish for more information @ rmish@wlu.edu.
While anyone may attend the number of active participants will be limited to 10-12 students, who will prepare a 16-bar audition piece.
Todd Hunter, born and raised in New York City, began his career as a dancer graduating from the renowned High School of the Performing Arts. Outside of school he trained in New York City at the Joffrey School of Ballet and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center where he garnered invitations to perform nationally and internationally as a guest artist with various dance companies.
Todd continued on his career path to join Broadway productions such as the original cast of “The Who’s Tommy” and “Side Show.” He also has been a featured cast member in “Kiss of the Spider Woman” with Chita Rivera, “Victor/Victoria” with Julie Andrews, Liza Minelli, and Rachel Welch, “The Lion King,” and several other national tours. He was a soloist with the L.A. Philharmonic in Leonard Bernstein’s “Mass” which was performed at the Hollywood Bowl. Additionally he has worked with such industry legends like Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Diahann Carroll, Ann-Margret, Jennifer Holiday, Stephenie Mills, Joe Layton, Rob Marshall, Maurice Hines, Rob Ashford and Bob Fosse.
Later, he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. He landed roles on the ABC daytime soap opera "General Hospital" and CBS’s "The Bold and the Beautiful." After filming multiple national commercials he took his expertise to aspiring performing artist both in the USA and Europe creating dance and/or musical theater workshops. Teaching in Europe brought him great success and he still travels to Italy to do concerts and performance workshops.
He graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula and often is invited to return as a guest performer/teacher. He appeared in the Western Rockies area debut of “Angels in America” directed by John Deboer and has returned by invitation to perform the role of “The Leading Player” in the University's production of “Pippin.” He has been nominated for several awards, one being the Canadian Dora award in 2005.
