In 1961, Suzanne and her sister-in-law Alice, two writers of color, are stuck in London, waiting for Alice's brother (and Suzanne's husband) to return from his dangerous journey pursuing a cure for the gravely ill controversial philosopher Frantz Fanon. Pregnant Suzanne's health takes a turn for the worse, and her doctor encourages a diversion for the two women: his dramatic circle in which they read Bram Stoker's Dracula together.

In a one-act originally written for the radio, Adrienne Kenney, award-winning author of "Funnyhouse of a Negro," and 2018 inductee into the Theater Hall of Fame for "Lifetime Achievement in the American Theater," weaves together three seemingly incongruous stories, and takes us on a unexpected journey of fear, connection, and love.

Monroe has been a professional film, television and stage actress for over 20 years in Los Angeles, New York, and DC. Credits include: Off-Off Broadway: Backhouse Theatre Co.: Hello Herman. Regional: Folger Shakespeare Company: Julius Caesar; Annapolis Shakespeare Company: Hamlet; and Shakespeare & Company: Love's Labours Lost. Film/T.V. credits include: Gridiron Gang, HBO's Def Poetry, The Bold and the Beautiful, I'm Through with White Girls, and Jamie Foxx Show.

As a spoken word artist, Monroe has opened for Jewel, appeared on HBO's Def Poetry, and performed alongside bestselling author Neale Donald Walsch. She has been featured in magazines like "Ave," and "Sister 2 Sister," and graced the cover of the "Long Beach View" She is a graduate of The Meisner School of Acting and received her MFA from The Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy for Classical Acting at The George Washington University. Monroe's one woman show The Journey to Becoming Super Woman, premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland to four star reviews and has traveled to universities and theater festivals throughout the U.S. and the U.K.
