The Goldmund Quartet, comprised of Florian Schötz, violin; Pinchas Adt, violin; Christoph Vandory, viola; Raphael Paratore, cello, is renowned for its interpretations of both classical and contemporary quartet repertoire. Critics have praised the ensemble for its "exquisite playing" and "such multi-layered homogeneity" (Süddeutsche Zeitung). Its inwardness, unbelievably fine intonation and phrases worked out down to the smallest detail inspire audiences worldwide.
Since 2019, the quartet has performed on the Paganini Quartet, a rare set of four instruments crafted by Antonio Stradivari. The instruments were once owned by the virtuoso Niccolò Paganini and remain among the most celebrated string instruments in existence. The quartet is now counted among the leading string quartets of the younger generation worldwide. The ensemble's 2025-26 season included an extensive U.S. tour with performances in Boston, Houston and Miami, as well as masterclasses in collaboration with Tokyo University of the Arts.
Their most recent project, "Dahoam," is a musical exploration of their Bavarian roots, achieved through an innovative fusion of folk and classical music and selections from Dahoam will be featured on this program. Known for its remarkable musical versatility, the quartet performs repertoire spanning both traditional classical and contemporary works, from Schubert and Mendelssohn to Wolfgang Rihm and Dobrinka Tabakova.
