Join the Bluegrass Ensemble as it concludes its second year since reforming in 2025 after a long hiatus. Directed by Blake Shester, Lecturer in Music, the Bluegrass Ensemble continues W&L's rich tradition of bluegrass and old-time string band music.

Rooted in the musical heritage of Rockbridge County, the ensemble draws inspiration from the legacy of Odell and Mata McGuire, as well as former directors Nate Leath and Burr Datz, whose work helped sustain and shape traditional music-making on campus. Through rehearsal and performance, students engage with a living tradition built on listening, collaboration and shared creativity.

The Winter term concert celebrates the ensemble's continued growth and the vitality of this enduring American musical form. Instrumentalists and vocalists of all backgrounds are welcome to participate and audiences are invited to experience an evening of music that bridges past and present through community and tradition.

Performance will be streamed. go.wlu.edu/livestream.
