Workday Third-Party MFA
If you've been assigned third-party access to Workday by your W&L student, you will need to enable an Authenticator App to ensure you have multi-factor authentication (MFA) login access.
Step 1. Access an Authenticator App
You can use an existing Authenticator App on your phone, provided it's free and/or doesn't require licensing. Examples include:
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Google Play for Android
- App Store for iOS
- Google Authenticator
- Google Play for Android
- App Store for iOS
Do Not use Paid Apps like DUO - Workday is not licensed. If you do not have a smartphone, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at help@wlu.edu to be set up to receive One-Time Passcodes via email.
Step 2. Sign in to Workday
Sign in to Workday here on your computer using your existing username and password.
If you do not know your username and password, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at help@wlu.edu for assistance. Once logged in to Workday, you will see the message below. Click on Set Up Now.
NOTE: If you have more than one student at W&L, you will be prompted to select which student you would like to view.
Step 3. Link Your Authenticator App to Workday
Open the Authenticator App on your phone. Click the + to add the Workday account. You will need to give the App access to your camera. Once you have done so, frame the QR code from your computer screen into the App.
NOTE: Do not use the QR code shown below. This is an example.
Step 4. Record Backup Codes
Backup Codes are used when your phone does not have connectivity. To ensure access to Workday, even if your phone does not have service or is not connected to Wifi, you can use the backup codes generated to log in to your account. You should store these in a safe place.
