CIML (CyberInfrastruture-Enabled Machine Learning) Summer Institute

Application deadline: Friday, April 11, 2025

Preparation Day (virtual): Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 9 am - 11 am (Pacific Time)
Summer Institute (in person): Tuesday, June 24 - Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 8 am - 5:30 pm (Pacific Time)
Location: San Diego Supercomputer Center Auditorium on the UC San Diego campus

The San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) Cyberinfrastructure-Enabled Machine Learning (CIML) project is focused on teaching researchers and students the best practices for effectively running machine learning (ML) and data science applications on advanced cyberinfrastructure (CI) and high-performance computing (HPC) systems.

The CIML Summer Institute introduces machine learning (ML) concepts to researchers, developers and educators techniques and methods needed to migrate their ML applications from smaller, locally run resources, such as laptops and workstations, to large-scale HPC systems, such as the SDSC's Expanse supercomputer. Participants will have the opportunity to accelerate their learning process through highly interactive classes with hands-on tutorials using SDSC's Expanse.

SC25 Conference

November 16-21, 2025 - St. Louis, MOSC25 is the premiere international conference for high-performance computing (HPC), networking, storage and analysis. SC is known for: a dynamic technical program, an engaging exhibit show floor, an incredible SCinet capability, and enriching student and community engagement programs aimed to foster the next generation and ensure theconference is a welcoming environment for everyone.

SC25's theme, "HPC Ignites," celebrates the sparks of creativity and innovation that fuel our field. Building on SC24's theme, "HPC Creates," we'll continue to highlight how HPC drives advancements across diverse domains. From harnessing the power of HPC and artificial intelligence to advancing energy efficiency and promoting sustainability, the passion and ingenuity of our community ignite progress in our field.

Taking inspiration from our theme we have planned exciting new program elements. In particular, We will build on initiatives such as SC24's Art of HPC, which showcases the intersection of computational power and creative expression. In addition, we're introducing the SC25 Book Club. Our first stop on this journey is Walter Isaacson's inspiring book, The Innovators, which explores the concepts of creativity and teamwork throughout the history of computing. We invite everyone to read along and join us for a conversation on this book and theme at SC25. Throughout the year, we will highlight a number of different authors and subjects that have inspired fellow enthusiasts such as yourselves.
