Network and Wireless
The campus network provides access to a variety of computing and information services, internally and via the Internet. Additionally, ITS researches, documents and implements different secure connection strategies including, traditional Ethernet jacks, wireless connections, remote access and much more.
What is it?
Wired: ITS manages wired network connections to most campus buildings, in support of computers, Voice over IP telephones and other devices
Wireless: ITS provides wireless access in virtually all campus buildings, and some outdoor spaces
- eduroam: This secure network is the recommended, encrypted wireless network for anyone with a W&L network ID and password
- WLU: ITS provides guests and visitors with non-secure wireless. ITS visitors and guests who are sponsored by a W&L faculty or staff member can obtain a higher quality connection than the standard guest connection
- Self-registration on wireless network for game devices, blu-ray players, smart TVs.
Changes to the network environment and other IT infrastructure follow ITS' change management policy, which balances the need for continuous improvement and the need to minimize disruption to services.
