About Vittoria di Steffano
Hi! I'm Vittoria Di Stefano, and I come from beautiful Umbria, the region right in the heart of Italy. I graduated in Modern Philology at the University of Bologna-the oldest university in Europe-and my main field of study and research is Italian, Latin, and classical literature. Even though I deeply love Italian culture (or maybe exactly because of that!), I decided to come to the U.S. to teach it. Too often, Italy is seen abroad through a series of clichés. But my country is so much more than just a postcard from Positano-and learning its language is the best way to truly get to know it.
Besides teaching, I love art in all its forms: from cinema to visual arts, from literature to music. I also love exploring new places and discovering new things, and I'm sure my time at Washington and Lee University will allow me to uncover not only new places, but also new passions and goals for my career and personal growth.
