About Ayelen Taborda Condori
Buenas! I am Ayelén Taborda, but you can call me Aye. You can pronounce my name as /aje'len/ or /aʃe'len/ or /aʒe'len/, according to the symbols of the IPA. I am an English teacher back home, graduated from the National University of Cordoba, in Argentina -quite proud of coming from these places-, but here I will be teaching Spanish as a WLTA (my native language instead).
If I have to mention some of my hobbies, the ones that are on my list are travelling (first in line), reading horror stories, cooking (up to some extent), acting (hope to find a club here), listening to music and riding a bike. I would love to swim, but I have to learn first. And you may see me at the gym every now and then; in order to be in good health I have to go; no other option 😮.
As I told Prof. Kuettner when I arrived at W&L, for several years it has been a dream of mine to come to the USA and teach the languages I know and learn from the US culture by being immersed here. And by direct link with the School of Languages (UNC), Washington and Lee University has provided me with this unique experience in this dream-like place and picturesque village. I am confident that this opportunity at W&L will widen my horizons as a professional and also teach me a lot about American culture, cuisine, history and geography. I really look forward to meeting my new students and sharing all I know and all I will continue learning about Cordoba, Argentina and the Spanish-speaking world.
