About Alexis Chavez Chesta

¡Buenas, buenas! My name is Alexis Chavez Chesta, but you can call me Alex or Alexis. I hold a degree in English Language Teaching from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC) in Argentina, where I am also completing my Licenciatura in English Language and Literature. Back home, I served as a Teaching Assistant for English Language I, but at W&L, I am thrilled to step into the role of Spanish Teaching Assistant to share my native language and culture.

Beyond language teaching, I have over fifteen years of experience in the performing arts. I love bringing drama-based techniques into the classroom, using performance and theatre as tools to explore dialectal diversity, regional accents, and meaningful communication. Outside of work, my interests include theatre, literature, discourse analysis, and creative cultural projects.

Coming to Washington and Lee University is an extraordinary opportunity to connect my academic background with immersive cultural exchange. I look forward to bringing a piece of Córdoba and Argentina to W&L, guiding my students through the richness of the Spanish-speaking world, and growing both personally and professionally during my time in this wonderful community!
