Professional Development Opportunities for the World Language Educator

The Foreign Language Teachers Workshop Series (FLTSW) continues its teacher professional development opportunities under the umbrella of the Foreign Language Association of Virginia (FLAVA) and the Virginia Department of Education's Professional Development Framework. Winter and Spring 2024 workshops are now posted.

Workshops fall under the tutelage of the Virginia Foreign Language Professional Development Framework, spearheaded by the Virginia Department of Education, with special emphasis placed on the Teacher Effectiveness for Language Learning (TELL) Project. Topics selected for these workshops are direct results of teacher-expressed needs and desires revealed through discussions and surveys conducted at various levels.  Topics are both timely and useful.

The workshops are broadcasted from the speaker's location and are available for viewing either at the viewer's preferred location or within the Global Discovery Laboratories on the campus of Washington and Lee University. Times of workshops/broadcasts vary, but normally take place in the late afternoon on the designated day of the announced workshop.  Workshops are shared with educators throughout the mid-Atlantic region and beyond.

Registration for the workshops is open and will continue throughout the academic year. Inquiries about the workshops should be directed to Professor Dick Kuettner at kuettnerd@wlu.edu.
