Inaugural John Kyle Spencer Directorship Lecture

On October 17, 2019, students, faculty, staff and members of John Spencer’s family joined together to celebrate the appointment of the first John Kyle Spencer Director of Environmental Studies, Professor Robert Humston.  Professor Humston presented a talk titled, “Environmental Optimism is not an Oxymoron”.  The presentation reviewed recent progress in Environmental Studies at W&L, and future directions for the program in light of expectations for the future of our environment.  The presentation was followed by a reception where everyone enjoyed discussing Prof. Humston’s lecture as well as sharing stories about John Spencer ’13.
