Susanna Craib-Cox ’96 Marketing Manager for STR Partners
Clear, concise writing, whether proposals, presentations or just an email, is a critical element to my firm's success. That was an underlying element throughout my studies at W&L, to develop a style that didn't depend on embellishments or lengthy discussions. There's so little time to make a good impression on people, and a badly-written or overlong piece won't advance your cause.
Reading through a hefty Request for Proposal or Qualifications isn't far off from a close examination of the text, looking for important phrases and key words that gave me insight to the author's thinking and underlying message. In this case, it's interpreting the listed requirements and qualifications, and the scope of the project, rather than looking for hints of revolution in Irish poetry or American literature.
