I graduated from W&L in 2010 and went off to China. I will be repatriating back to the U.S. summer 2016.
About Our Graduates
I graduated from Washington and Lee in 2012 and began teaching that year. I teach first grade at Sacred Heart Model School in Louisville, KY. The W&L Teacher Education program prepared me to be a creative, organized, and adaptive teacher.
I remember first meeting Washington and Lee's stellar education professors at the academic fair for first year students held each fall in Stemmons Plaza. I walked right up to an inviting Professor Haley Sigler, who was passing out apples to prospective students. Seven years later I cannot recall our exact conversation, but I left with two apples and a sense of excitement about the beginning of my journey into elementary education.
Being a part of the teacher education program has paid off tremendously for me in the four years following graduation in June 2010. From 2010-2012, I utilized the skills and techniques I learned as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at West Virginia University. While there, I was an instructor of undergraduate physical education courses in charge of curriculum design, implementation, and assessment using various instructional approaches and sport education models.
