Intern with Incline Energy Partners, Summer 2019

This summer I interned for a mineral company called Incline Energy Partners. The company has offices in Denver, CO, Fort Worth, TX, and Dallas, TX. I am from Fort Worth, so that's where I worked. Incline buys mineral rights in the DJ, Powder River, and Williston Basins out West. My job included running title on landowners' minerals; calculating net royalty acres and mineral acres; pulling important data from title opinions; and high volume data entry. This was my first time working in this industry. I loved learning the basic structure of and all the lingo within the industry; I now feel as if I have a solid baseline of knowledge that I can build on next summer.

I am majoring in Geology and Business Administration and have yet to figure out in which direction I would like to pursue a career. This summer gave me more insight into what decision I should make. I really liked the work I was doing this summer. I liked the strategy that went into deciding where to buy mineral rights and the different ways of of actually acquiring them. Next summer, I hope to get a job doing geology work for someone to help me make the most educated decision on a career as possible.
