George joined Washington and Lee’s office of corporate and foundation relations in 2004. George came to W&L after a decade of service in and with higher education, first as executive director of the Kentucky Center for Public Issues, then as senior associate at Kentucky's coordinating council for postsecondary education, and most recently as director of strategic communication at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia. George is a former reporter, editorial writer and editor for metropolitan newspapers in Connecticut and Kentucky. He taught writing and editing to upper-level students at the University of Kentucky and was a producer and the host of an award-winning public-affairs radio program in Louisville, Kentucky.
